Five Secrets Revealed About the 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
Freshly renewed for 2022, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class returns for a fifth-generation (W206). That notably arrives with a new interior and exterior aesthetic signature as well as state-of-the-art technologies. All of these contribute to uplifting the car value that is already high.
Five secrets revealed about the 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class:
Enhanced Design
Mercedes designers base their designs on the principle of lines in “constant motion.” So the vehicle looks like it is “moving” even if it is stationary. Several aesthetic elements accentuate this effect.
First, the Mercedes designers have refined the sedan lines to show off the dominant silhouette stretching from the front to the rear.
They have also enlarged the headlights, giving the car a more aggressive air than the previous generation. Besides, they have revised the aesthetics of the grille, and the hood line is plunging.
At the back, Mercedes mentions that this is the first time it separates the lights: one part ends up on the side of the vehicle and the other part on the trunk.
Mercedes has enlarged these lights and slimmed them down. The C-Class is also longer and wider than its predecessor.
Finally, three body colors are available:
Spectral Blue
High-tech Silver
Opalite White
As expected, the exterior is changing in a rather quiet fashion. However, the change is real in redesigning LED headlights, new taillights, grille, the different openings at the bottom of the front bumper, and the new relief lines on the hood and sides. Mercedes also reconsidered the design of the rims, which measure 18 or 19 inches, while adding new colors to the palette.
One Engine
The C-Class will have a new turbocharged 2.0-liter, a four-cylinder engine that produces 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.
It’s all paired with a lightweight 48-volt hybrid system, helping to produce a surplus of 20 horsepower and 147 lb-ft.
The powertrain will include a nine-speed transmission and 4MATIC all-wheel drive.
It is worth mentioning that there was a collaboration with the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team to develop the turbo. According to the manufacturer, The 0-100 sprint takes only six seconds.
Mercedes-Benz has yet to announce the other versions, including the performance AMGs, but we already know that they will phase out V6 and V8 in favor of electrified four-cylinder engines.
It’s the end of an era!
C-Class includes a 48-volt mild hybrid system, lightening the load on the engine in some situations while providing an extra 20 horsepower and 147 pound-feet of torque at other times.
Sportive Interior
The driver’s station is now two distinct sections:
The first is the instrument panel with an optional 10.25-inch or 12.3-inch digital display.
The second is the center console with an 11.9-inch infotainment screen.
Both are oriented six degrees towards the driver.
You can configure the infotainment screen in three separate displays (Discreet, Sport, Classic) and three modes (Navigation, Assistance, and Service).
In addition, a fingerprint reader provides access to the system profile that matches your preferences, actions, and personal data.
Other notable features include the aircraft-inspired air vents, multi-spoke steering wheel, and fiber optic mood lights.
Passengers in both the front and rear will have more room in the seat for shoulders and legs. Thanks to its larger dimensions
The latest Generation of MBUX
The new C-Class has the second generation of the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX).
The infotainment system makes it possible, among other things, to manage a series of car parameters, such as the mood lights or even access to “Hey Mercedes” voice assistance.
Other features like the optional Smart Home will communicate with the smart home systems. Thus, it will be possible to remotely control the temperature, lighting, shutters, and electrical appliances.
Motion detectors and window contacts can notify the user of the presence of visitors – welcomed or unwanted!
Also available, augmented reality navigation. A camera records the surroundings in front of the vehicle. That includes road signs, directional arrows, and street numbers. The central camera will then display these images to facilitate navigation.
Finally, there is the new four-link front suspension which improves handling. As well as refined safety and driver assistance systems to intervene more effectively. That is the case with adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance, and traffic sign recognition.
Enhanced Driving Aids
In terms of driver assistance systems, Mercedes has reviewed everything.
First, the Intelligent Drive Package will now have new functions and more advanced amenities. Among these innovations is an improvement in the various traffic signs recognition. There is also an upgrade in the stability of the vehicle in autonomous driving.
Secondly, intelligent parking systems will be more efficient when maneuvering at low-speed thanks to new sensors. In addition, the process is faster than before.
Finally, as an option, Mercedes offers headlights that project guidelines or warning symbols onto the road.
The 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class will arrive in dealerships in the first quarter of 2022.
